Prepared for the Winter
November 14, 2021

[Updated November 22, 2021]

In August I started moving from one part of Oakdale Park to a nearby wooded area about 1/2 mile away on Fellsway East. It took almost a month to get things established. After a while I realized that I was directly underneath a large dead branch. When I looked around for an alternate spot I had trouble finding one that was not risky.

The ground that I occupy is fraught with dead trees & big fallen branches. There are lots of dead & dying standing trees, in addition to large dead branches, that could fall any time.

Currently the tarp that I use from spring to autumn is near an oak tree that's split in half. That's the safest place I could find. Hopefully the lower half of that tree will not fall soon. I'm better off there than in other areas of the camp.

When I arrived at camp on October 28th I noticed that two more big oak trees had toppled during the storm. Both had rotted trunks. The trunk of one was about 20 feet from the summer/autumn tent that I stayed in. The top of the other was only 2 feet from the place where I pitched my winter tent (that wasn't there during the storm). I will have to be especially careful during strong winds.

I'm still able to stay at my mother's apartment at least several days a week, & sometimes more.

I'm prepared for the winter. The winter tent & wood stove that I used last year made a great difference. When it gets cold I can do most of my activities in this heated tent. I've already used it this year. A separate log platform with a tarp roof serves as my sleeping shelter. I have the rest of the gear that I need to survive.

The documentary on the use of industrial infrastructure to hide state/corporate-sponsored ecological attacks is taking longer than I thought, so it might not be ready until the first quarter of next year.

Citizens who are resisting these invasions may find it useful.

Things are going well despite all of the attacks. I continue with my mental & physical exercises.
